What is 'green' cleaning? What most people think of when they hear about green cleaning are home remedies...pulling items out of the pantry and whipping something up to scrub on the counters. That is actually natural or organic cleaning, where food items like lemons and walnut shells are utilized to act as abrasives or acidic cleaners.
Green cleaning is simply a conscious move away from products that contain VOC's (volatile organic compounds) which can cause respiratory problems and eye irritation in the best cases, and chemical burns in the worst cases. These products are toxic to us, our families, our pets, and our environment.
Instead, we choose to use ecologically friendly, biodegradable, brand name products that are at least as effective as their toxic counterparts, if not more so!
Studies are currently being conducted within the medical field to determine the role chemical exposure has in creating allergic sensitivities,
developing asthma or contributing to attacks, reducing immunity, and contributing to cancer and other diseases. These include many substances that have long been considered traditional cleaning agents, such as benzene, ammonia, and bleach.
As green cleaners we strive to substantially diminish our use of these products in favor of their greener counterparts. Not only is it healthier in both the short and long terms for you and everyone who is important to you, it is also better for our maids who work closely with these chemicals all day long. The scent is natural, not synthetic, which means these products also smell better. Your home smells clean and fresh, instead of needing to open windows and turn on fans to clear out the overwhelming and toxic chemical smell.
